Understanding Tsunami Warnings

There are specific signals which can give us clues about the upcoming disaster. If the ocean acts strange and makes strange noises, it is better to back off the beach and run inland. Remember, a tsunami wave can go as far as 16 km inland too. People often mistake a tsunami wave for high tide. There are cases where people returned to beaches after the first high wave. The second and third wave sweeps them away to death.

Prolong lingering at the beaches even after the warning signs can prove dangerous. When Tsunami occurs, it is best to go as high as one can go. It can be on a branch of a tree or a high cement and metal building. There is no guarantee that the above said places are safe, but this is all you can do and trust your luck. Running inland is also an option, but only after there is a break between the two tsunamis.

Why Do People Die Even After Tsunami

According to experts, people often underestimate the power of the ocean. They linger too long and have a wicked sense of judgment. They are unable to measure the gravity of the catastrophe. As a result, they do not follow the warning signs and die. Over the years, in many tsunamis, people die taking pictures and contemplating to run or not run. Hurricanes also happen during a tsunami.

They take the high waves inwards, causing the most destruction. If you are in the way of a storm, there is no chance you can escape. People who ignore these alarming signs and take too much time to evacuate lose lives — accumulating too much stuff while escaping makes no sense. Thus, one should run for endurance rather than being greedy. Vigilance and alertness play a vital role in a person’s life. These are the affecting factors that can save a person from this traumatic disaster.
